Ok, lazy might not be the best word, but really… I just didn’t get to blogging as much as I could have. Should have, maybe.
I could write a blog post for every Finger Lakes thing we did this summer, and maybe I will, but I feel like this is as good a time as any to just get it all out there.
Labor Day Keuka Lake Time Lapse
To kick things off. Here is a video I shot and edited this past Labor Day weekend.
This was taken from Brandy Bay. Looking to stay at an adorable and well-cared-for cottage on Keuka? I recommend this Brandy Bay Cottage, hands down.
Cayuga Lake Creamery
It’s a little crowded, even for a random Thursday at 2pm. Burger was good, ice cream was great. Don’t go after a torrential downpour.
But if you are in the area after a torrential downpour, DO go to Toughannock Falls. And definitely stay until it starts thundering and people freak the heck out.
Because I have a new camera lens… so I thought the pier would be a good place to take it for a spin.
Rode the Jack Rabbit with my now-roller-coaster-freak 7 year old.
Moon Lapse over Keuka
Just sitting enjoying the lake, and these clouds were moving in on the moon all pretty-like. And I realized I brought my GoPro with me. I was a little late in catching the moon so it’s a super short time lapse, but it inspired the longer time lapse so it’s all good.
This is not a public hiking place. I almost don’t even want to tell you where it is. Actually, I’m not going to. Here, Google it. I went with my brother, his friend, my sister, her family, my uncle, aunt, cousin, and yep, grandpa came too.
Yup, did that too. Second time. Wore the GoPro. Still working on editing that video… But it was fun. I highly recommend taking part in this event. You don’t have to be a super strong swimmer (I’m not). Actually I swam .67 miles across the lake faster than I ran a 5k (about 45 mins).
Ran a 5k
I’ve had this on my TO DO list for oh, about 6 years or so. Never “got around to it”. I’m “not a runner”. Yadda yadda, “more excuses”. Well I did it. And it only took my 50 minutes. :)
First time I ever picked blue berries. You ride on a wagon or on a golf cart out to the field, pick what you like, then they give you a ride back. Fun for kids! And Adults.
Why? Why is this so darn entertaining? The only thing flying more than mud are the F-bombs. And there was a lady with a newborn baby sitting right down front. NEW. BORN. If I could have taken him home with me and gotten away with it, I would have. Call me crazy. Poor thing. But I digress. I love the demolition derby. It’s the 3rd year in a row that we’ve taken out oldest daughter.
Corning Museum of Glass
This was fun, even (especially?) for the kids (who are 3 and 7). I wasn’t sure that it would be fun enough for them, but they really did enjoy it. Tip: Show them your Military I.D. for a steep admission discount.
